Active Patagonia (5 days)

A special outdoors program to make the most out of this unique playground.

DAY 1
Pick up from Punta Arenas airport, and private transfer to Puerto Natales, through a scenic route (3h). Dinner and night in Indigo.

DAY 2
Trekking to the base of Torres del Paine: the most mythical hike of the park. Early departure in order to start trekking around 9h30. The beginning of the trail is pretty demanding and soon we will reach a spectacular vantage point from which a series of lakes will be visible. The second part of the hike goes through forest and along a river. And the final push will be the climb of a moraine which will take us to the base itself. Once there we will have lunch and relax, as long as the weather will allow us to. Gentle descent, and dinner and night in Hostería Las Torres.

DAY 3
Trekking and cruise to Glacier Grey. In the morning we will mix sightseeing and hiking as we make our way to the Grey Lake: various stops on the way. Lunch in Hostería Grey, and get ready for the cruise to Grey Galcier itself: a spectacular journey through icebergs and sublime landscapes. Later on drive back to Puerto Natales for dinner and night in Indigo.

DAY 4
Horseback & Kayak. We will start the day paddling up fjord Eberhard, a quiet and spectcular arm of the Last Hope Fjord. Glorious views and abundant wildlife. Lunch will be served in an historical Estancia, and we will then ride our way back to Puerto Natales through soft pampas and forests. Once in Indigo, in order to recover, a one hour massage will be waiting. Dinner out in Puerto Natales, and night in Indigo.

DAY 5
Transfer back to Punta Arenas airport, departure depending on your flight time.

Day 1
Punta Arenas / Puerto Natales:
Pick up in Punta Arenas airport, private transfer (3 hours) to Puerto Natales Hotel & Spa Indigo. Welcome drink and dinner menu in our Restaurant Mama Rosa.

Day 2
Torres del Paine:
Private Full day excursion to Torres del Paine, visiting the most popular places including some hikes like Beach of Grey Lake, Waterfall Salto Grande, lookout “Los Cuernos” and Paine Grande, Laguna Amarga and lookout to the Towers.
Lunch in Hosteria Lago Grey.
Back to Puerto Natales and dinner out in Puerto Natales.

Day 3
Glacier Balmaceda & Serrano Navigation & Zodiac at Serrano River:
We start by Catamaran from Puerto Natales, sailing for 2,5 hours to the Balmaceda & Serrano Glacier. After a short hike to the lookout of the Serrano Glacier we are going up the Serrano River by Zodiac for 2 hours. Arriving to the Serrano area where our transfer will be waiting for us going back to Puerto Natales and Hotel & Spa Indigo.
Dinner out in Puerto Natales.

Day 4
Puerto Natales / Horse riding & SPA:
This day we start by transfer (20 minutes) driving to a private Estancia from where we will go by Horse through the Patagonian Pampa, visiting the Milodon`s Cave. Lunch during excursion.
Back to Hotel Indigo where you can relax by an 1 hour of massage.
Dinner and night in Hotel Indigo.

Day 5
Puerto Natales / Punta Arenas:
Private transfer to Punta Arenas airport.

Day 1
Punta Arenas / Puerto Natales:

Day 2
Torres del Paine:
Private Full day excursion to Torres del Paine National Park and Milodon cave, departure early in the morning in order to make the most out of this day exploring the highlights of the park: Grey Glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, and of course the famous Torres! Lunch in front of Grey Glacier. Back to Indigo in the evening and dinner out in Puerto Natales.

Day 3 Options to choose *:
Boat sailing to Balmaceda and Serrano Glacier:
Transfer from Hotel Indigo to the pier in Puerto Bories 5 minutes.
At 8:00 am leaving in Catamaran Agunsa towards Serrano and Balmaceda Glacier, a 2,5 hours cruise in the Last Hope Sound, where we, after a short hike along the Serrano lagoon, reach the glacier lookout. On the way back we take direction to Estancia Puerto Consuelo for having lunch – typical Chilean BBQ.
Back to Hotel & Spa Indigo, relax in Spa Indigo & 1 hour massage.
Dinner in Mama Rosa Hotel Indigo.

Horse back ride to Milodon´s Cave

10:00 am Transfer to Estancia, riding by Horse to Milodon´s cave, afer visiting the cave lunch in restaurant. Horse ride back to Estancia and Transfer to Puerto Natales.Back to Hotel & Spa Indigo, relax in Spa Indigo & 1 hour massage.

Full Day Kayaking Colonists Route

FAQ

1. How long is the drive from the Punta Arenas airport to your hotel?
From Punta Arenas runs a good paved road of 247 km, you will take 1, 30 HR aprox.

- Drive from Indigo Hotel until Torres Del Paine?
Through the new road you will get the southern area of Torres del Paine call Rio Serrano , it takes about 1HR of travel, which is 80 km aprox.
The traditional road takes 2,30 Hr , is about 147 km, until Laguna Amarga , the first look at point to the famous Torres, north east region of Torres del Paine.

- From El Calafate until Indigo Patagonia?
You will drive around 4 hrs, consider you will stop at the borders, where you may spend about 30 minutes or more!

2. Can we easily rent a car and tour the park on our own?
In fact it is a really good option for independent travelers.
Four wheel drive vehicle is not needed, but road are unpaved, therefore is suitable a big car. Finding gasoline outside of Puerto Natales can be a challenge, be sure to fill up and bring a good map with you!
Don´t forget your driver license!

3. What do we need to wear?
Patagonia weather is mostly cold, but is not the Antartica!
Bring a good Jacket, a fleece, trekking trousers, a warm hat and comfortable trekking choose. Don’t forget that sun is dangerous and bring with you sun screen and sun glasses.

From Argentina

From Buenos Aires: First you’ll have to travel south to Patagonia. That can be done in two different ways:

1. Via Bariloche and crossing to Puerto Montt: visit the lovely “swiss flavoured” area of Bariloche, and cross to Chile by boat through 4 different lakes. Then fly from Puerto Montt to Punta Arenas. (see From Chile)

2. Via El Calafate: Will give you the opportunity to admire the Perito Moreno glacier, and perhaps visit El Chalten, home of Fitzroy.

From Chile

From Santiago: Various airlines  fly direct to Puerto Natales note: Airport 5 min away from Indigo: Sky Airline and Air Comet (previously Aerolíneas del Sur). Lan Chile is expected to start flying soon. Check timetables on their websites: www.skyairline.cl, www.aircomet.cl, and www.lan.com

Otherwise the standard flight routes will lead you to Punta Arenas (normally via Puerto Montt in larger aircraft).

Kayak through the Fjord

This is how to get a taste of what the classic explorers like Magellan, Fitzroy, Darwin, Shackleton, experienced in these frigged waters.

The trip can be done in single or double kayaks, always escorted by professional guides. You will be paddling in  Eberhard Fjord, a quiet and protected arm of the Fjord of Last Hope. The views are moving, the wild life is abundant, and the sense of remote is complete. A picnic stop will be organised on one of the many deserted beaches. You will be surprised.

Horseback riding through Patagonia

This is one of the most beautiful and authentic experiences that one can have in Patagonia. It can range from a couple of hours to a full day, and in every case you will be riding well-trained and outfitted horses guided by expert riders.

2 hour trip: you will ride around the historical settlement of Puerto Bories, the heart of the sheep breeding industry in the early 20th century. The trip leads through soft pampas and along the banks of the fjord, with majestic views on Mount Balmaceda. This was once part of a sovereign republic.
